The city of Toronto is definitely a sports town. You'll find several university-level, semi-professional and professional teams in the city.  The Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto FC, Toronto Argonauts, Toronto Rock, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors and the Toronto Marlies all call Toronto home. Toronto Argonauts are a part of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Blue Jays are member of Major League Baseball (MLB). Toronto FC is a Major League Soccer (MLS) team, the Maple Leafs participates in the NHL or the National Hockey League, the Raptors are a part of the NBA and the Toronto Marlies are in the AHL, the American hockey League.

The Toronto Raptors are in the NBA’s Eastern Conference’s Atlantic division. The team has not been around for very long, only being established in 1995. They entered the league the same year as the Vancouver Grizzlies. The Grizzlies would later move on to Memphis, TN, leaving the Toronto Raptors as the only NBA team based in Canada. Today, the games are played at Air Canada Centre.

The Toronto Argonauts are a part of the Canadian Football League. They are one of the oldest pro sports team in the North American region. They were founded in the late 1800s. The Argonauts have been successful and brought home the Grey cup to Toronto in 2004 and an impressive 14 times prior to that. They play at Rogers Centre.

The Toronto Blue Jays are part of Major League Baseball.  They play in the American League's Eastern division. The Blue Jays were founded in Toronto in the year 1977.  Today, they play in the Rogers Center.  The Blue Jays hold the distinction as the only Major League Baseball franchise not based in the United States to win the World Series.

The Toronto Maple Leafs is the professional hockey team in Toronto and although they have been struggling the past few years there still one of the most popular sporting teams in the country. The Leafs have won many Stanley Cups in the past and hopefully the next one will be shortly.

Toronto FC is a professional soccer team based in Toronto. They are a part of Major League Soccer and played their first match in April of 2007 in the city of Los Angeles. They play at BMO Field and sold out every game their inaugural season. In 2008, there were chosen to host the league’s All-Star game.

The Toronto Marlies is the city’s minor league hockey team. They are a part of the American Hockey League and compete in the Western Conference’s North Division. They play at the Ricoh Coliseum.

As you can see, there are many great sports teams in Toronto. There is a baseball team, a professional soccer team, a football team, a hockey team and a basketball team.
