Forget about free trips from Canada to US and vice versa. The new rules that asked Americans and Canadians to have a passport traveling through their border could cost both countries billions of dollars in lost tourism revenue. Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty with the premiers from Quebec, New Brunswick and Manitoba will try to convince U.S. officials to ease travel restrictions on Canadians, during their visit to Washington later this month.
Because of criminal situation in Mexico that has become worse and worse, the idea of vacations in Florida will have more and more supporters, I think. Another 2 Ontarians were wounded in a hotel lobby in Acapulco. Acapulco Mayor was absolutely right, when said that "the violence has not put the resort city in a good light with tourists". The tourism in Mexico is "too hot" now.
Will Canada be able to be a real bilingual country? I'm absolutely agreed with 91% from a new poll commissioned by Radio-Canada, who said, that the prime minister should be able to speak both English and French. I believe that 2 languages are necessary for all our federal officials. Now only 16% of Canadians outside Quebec are bilingual. What to do with 84%?
If we want to see more young Ontarians we have to support families with children more. Premier Dalton McGuinty's Liberals promised during 2003 election $300 million in provincial funds on child care. Have anybody seen these millions? What do they do now – kill the previous Liberal government's $5 billion national child care initiative and cut subsidies for municipalities.
A lot of lawyers want to work for big corporation, but a small number of them wish to be a JP. Because of a chronic shortage of justices of the peace many of charges across the GTA are being dropped. It's also a financial problem. Toronto alone has lost about $1 million in revenue from potential fines. Where is way out?
A 16th birthday of Carrie-Ann has become a last birthday for some guests. Shortly past midnight on Sunday morning a 17-year-old died, and two were injured, one of them very serious. Who are they? What has happened in this yellow stucco home on Scarborough Heights Blvd?
What does cold weather bring to us? Multiple layers of clothing on our ladies that make them a little bit thicker than usual, but can't make them less beautiful. Snow keeps the streets without dust and the grass with moisture when the snow melts. Icy wind "push" more people inside taxicabs.
