An iconic structure, a celebrated landmark of the Toronto skyline, and one of the most visited attractions in Canada - the CN Tower remains the highest building in the world. In 2007, it has received the Business Reward of the Year from the Air Canada and the TIAC National Award for Tourism Excellence - both for outstanding accomplishments and contribution in the tourist industry of Canada.

The incredible CN Tower, reaching the height of flying birds - 1,815 ft, 5 inches, or 553.33 m, has been the tallest structure of the world for already 32 years, since its opening in 1975. The tower includes about 118,000 tones of concrete and metal and an incredible amount of human architectural genius. Every year, more than 2 million tourists from all over the globe come to Toronto to marvel at this engineering wonder. The CN Tower hosts about 300 different events annually and offers to the public the three levels of breathtaking observations, such as the world highest public deck of Sky Pod (447 m) and the world-famous Glass Flour, superb shopping areas, and the best award-winning restaurants and cafes, including the 360 Restaurant, one of the most favourite places of celebrity dining. Internationally recognized as one of the best gourmet dining and entertainment destinations in North America, the Tower also serves as a telecommunications hub. In addition, the structure features unique elevators and the tallest and longest metal staircase on earth, with 2579 steps intended for emergency use.

CN Tower was built and still is owned and managed by a crown Canada corporation, Lands Company. By now, its fame has exceeded that of previously highest buildings of the world: the Eiffel Tower in Paris, which was the tallest structure in 1889-1930, the Empire State Building in the U.S., which was holding the record within 1931-1967, and the Ostankino Tower in Moscow, which was the highest tower in the world for ten years, within 1967-1975.

The CN Tower is only closed for tourists on December, 25. For the rest 364 days of a year, amazed visitors standing on the Sky Pod can enjoy a breathtaking view of about 100 km around and catch the glimpses of Rochester on the US shore of Lake Ontario or the mist rising from Niagara Falls. Actually, the city of Toronto is an all-Canadian champion in building the tallest structures: seven out of the ten highest constructions of the country have been erected in Toronto.
